About us
Brighton Vet Surgery has been looking after Queensland pets for over 30 years
Brighton Veterinary Surgery has been caring for the pets and people of Brighton for thirty years. From its humble beginnings as a one vet one nurse practice, Brighton Vets prospered under the careful hand of Dr Adrian Gallagher for many years. It was through Adrian that Brighton’s reputation as a bird practice was established. In 2006, Adrian decided to devote his focus to the practice of avian medicine and sold the small animal component to Bernadette Robinson, the practice manager.

Brighton Vets has grown into a thriving surgery with a current staff of ten. Bernadette, Dr Vanessa Harkess and all the staff have continued to provide excellent veterinary care for the people of Brighton and surrounding areas. The team at Brighton Vets are selected not only for their veterinary skills, but for their love and compassion for our patients and care and respect for our clients.

Brighton Vets remain dedicated to providing the best and most up to date veterinary care for dogs and cats. Dr Vanessa Harkess, with her years of experience and membership with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinarian Science (Avian Health) has allowed the practice to maintain its exotic clinic treating birds, guinea pigs, rodents and reptiles. With the addition of Dr Rebecca Taylor to the practice in May 2015 and Dr Stephanie Shaw in 2016, our exotics practice continues to expand.

Our company goals are to always provide friendly, respectful and skilled care for our clients as well as our patients in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We want our clients to always feel we care for their pets as if they were our own.
